Hybrid and Electric Vehicles in Bury

Electric and hybrid cars are becoming more and more popular but it can be a minefield to know what car is right for your circumstances.

Difference between Hybrid and Electric Cars

Hyundai Hybrid

Hybrid is exactly that, it is a hybrid between Electric and a traditional Petrol engine, meaning you have the added comfort that you can fill your tank with petrol rather than running out of charge. Electric vehicles rely purely on Electrical charge from a power supply.

Hybrid cars are powered by an internal combustion engine combined with an electric motor, which utilises the energy stored from a charge. A Hybrid electric vehicle is not plugged in to charge, but rather it charges via a combination of regenerative braking and the internal combustion engine. On the other hand, a Hybrid Plug-In can be powered using a power supply. Ideal for short journeys, Hybrid’s can utilise electric only energy whilst staying local.

Electric cars are powered purely by being charged using a power source, either a wall socket at your residential property or a power source in a public space. This eliminates the requirement for fuel to be dispensed into the vehicle, making it a green option for the environmentally friendly.

Electric cars are ideal for those who do shorter journeys, removing the worry of running out of charge on longer journeys, and those who have or would be happy to have a wall charger fitted at their home. Although ranges are good on some models, those who are travelling hundreds of miles a week probably will not benefit from an Electric car.

How long does it take to charge an Electric Car

The time taken to charge an electric car can vary greatly depending on a number of factors, including the power source and the battery size. For example, general mains outputs will take longer to charge to full capacity than a specific Electric vehicle power supply.

How many miles will I get on one charge

Again, this will depend on a number of factors such as driving style and outside temperature. For example, the Hyundai Kona Electric can achieve a range of between 180 and 278 miles, whereas the Hyundai IONIQ Electric can achieve around 174 miles per full charge.

Here at BCC Cars, we supply a range of Electric and Hybrid vehicles to suit your requirements. Whether you want to upgrade to an SUV or require the space associated with an estate model.

The Hyundai IONIQ Plug-In Hybrid Estate boast an all-electric 39 mile range, so for short journeys, you don’t need to use any petrol. With a 1.6L petrol engine, the petrol reserves ensure there is no range anxiety and you can travel as far or wide as you need to, without the threat of running low on charge.

With a 10.25 widescreen infotainment system, heated sears and a reversing camera, the Hyundai IONIQ is equipped for safety, comfort and connectivity.

The IONIQ also comes as a Hybrid model or Electric model to suit your day to day needs.

For those needing something with slightly more space or visibility, the Hyundai Kona Electric and Hyundai Kona Hybrid models come packed with driving aids such as Lane Keep Assist, Blind Spot Detection and Autonomous Emergency Braking.

The 7” or 10.25” infotainment system integrated with smartphones for complete connectivity on journeys. This, paired with wireless phone charging ensures your journey is as connected as possible, especially on longer journeys.

Citroen has a number of electric vehicles in their range, including the E-C4, E-Berlingo and E-SpaceTourer.
